Moving Minds is an innovative project that creates opportunities for people affected by dementia to participate in weekly dance and improvisational movement sessions.

Participants are accompanied by spouses, friends and family, who dance with them as part of a community that acknowledges and celebrates the contribution of every individual.

The project contributes to a growing body of research that demonstrates that, for people living with dementia, participating in dance activities has several physiological and psychological benefits including:

  • Stress reduction
  • Encouraging social interaction
  • Maximizing cognitive function
  • Reinforcing a sense of identity
