Contextual offer scheme
We want to give more people a fair chance to get into higher education.
York St John was founded on the belief that helping more people from a wide mix of backgrounds to access education benefits both individuals and society.
To support this, we have created a unique contextual offer scheme. Our scheme takes into account more than just your grades when we make you an offer on one of our courses.

York College progression scheme
For 2024 entry onwards, we are offering a progression scheme for York College students.
If York College students are accepted for undergraduate courses at York St John University, we will:
- Apply a one grade concession to your offer (8 tariff points) off our standard requirements.
If you qualify for a greater concession through our contextual offer scheme, you will receive the relevant greater concession.
- Award a £200 one off scholarship which you will receive in your first year.
If you qualify for any of our other scholarships, your £200 York College scholarship can be added to your other scholarship.

Mature entry offer scheme
We provide tailored support for our mature students as they work towards academic success. The life and work experience of our students adds strength and new ideas to the York St John community.
Our mature student entry scheme looks at non-traditional qualifications and experience as well as your grades. We want to make sure you get the chance you deserve.

Former military personnel offer scheme
We offer a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) offer scheme for former military personnel.
We value the skills of students from a military background. We recognise these skills when you apply to one of our courses.
Our offer scheme looks at non-traditional qualifications and experience. We are looking for students who have the drive to succeed.
