Sam Baker

Sam Baker

Senior Practitioner

I'm a BACP-accredited Counsellor with over 16 years' experience, including several years' experience within the Wellbeing team at York St John University. My goal is to help individuals with the emotional and/or mental health challenges they may face during their time at university.

Steve Jones

Senior Practitioner

I have worked in NHS mental health services for 13 years before joining York St John in 2019, having previously studied occupational therapy here as a student. As an Occupational Therapist, I believe having a good work-life balance is important for us all, especially at times of stress which we can all experience during our lives.

Ciara Fitzroy

Service Coordinator

Katie Lunn

Katie Lunn

Mental Health Practitioner

After graduating from York St John with a degree in Occupational Therapy, I worked for over 17 years in mental health, within in-patient mental health settings, forensic settings and in managerial roles. I joined the Wellbeing team at York St John in 2019 and provide students with support and guidance so they can overcome challenges, improve their wellbeing and continue with their studies. My pronouns are she/her.

Katie Paterson

Mental Health Practitioner

I joined the Wellbeing team at York St John in 2021, having recently left the NHS where I worked as a mental health nurse in a forensic ward. I believe the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need for individuals to understand how to maintain their own mental health and working with students is a great opportunity to educate and offer support to those who face challenges during their time at University.

Jeanette Senior

Counsellor

As a Counsellor within the Wellbeing team at York St John, I offer counselling and coaching at York St John. I have a particular interest in self-improvement, relationships, and work/life balance.

Jason Shepherd

Jason Shepherd

Mental Health Practitioner

I'm a BACP-registered psychotherapist from the USA, where I worked as a forensic clinician, a school counsellor, a supervisor and the manager of a psychiatric crisis clinic. I joined the York St John Wellbeing team in 2022. As a Mental Health Practitioner I specialise in providing solution-focused, narrative-based treatment which explores each person's unique point of view and helps them identify steps and strategies towards achieving their personal goals. (Pronouns: he/him).
