Visa and Immigration - London

Apply for your CAS

Information for London Campus students about applying for a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).

CAS stands for 'Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies'. The CAS is an electronic record that the University produces for the Home Office and it is required for your Student visa application.

York St John University will become your sponsor in the UK after we issue you with a CAS.

When to apply for a CAS

You can apply for your CAS after you have received your unconditional offer and after your tuition fees deposit has cleared in University accounts. CAS will be issued no earlier than 6 months ahead of the course start date.

All degree programmes require a deposit of 50% of the first year's tuition fees. If you will take a Pre-sessional course before your degree programme, you will need to pay a deposit of 50% degree tuition PLUS 100% of the Pre-sessional course fees before you can apply for a CAS. If you are on a 2 year MBA/MSc with placement year, you must pay 50% of the TOTAL course fees as a deposit. The deposit amounts will appear on your unconditional offer letter.

Please refer to the Student Financial Regulations for more detailed information about the University's deposit and payment requirements.

How to apply for a CAS

If you applied through an agency then your agency will submit the CAS application to us after you have completed pre-visa checks.

If you did not apply through an agency then you will be sent the CAS application form link when you receive your unconditional offer.

How and when you will receive your CAS

Your CAS will be sent to you by email. You do not have to submit the CAS email to UKVI with your visa application, the CAS number itself is the only thing required for your Student visa application.

We have a 48-hour turnaround standard for CAS issuance, but we aim to get them issued as quickly as possible.

Please note: if your CAS application is received on a Friday or if we are missing any documents, there may be a slight delay with issuing your CAS. If your deposit funds have not cleared, this can also slow the process down.
