Andrew Byrom

Lecturer, Design

I recently moved back to the UK after 18 years living and working as a designer in Chicago and Los Angeles. My clients include The Museum of Latin American Art, The New York Times Magazine, Penguin Books, Sagmeister Inc., and The Architecture + Design Museum.

My interdisciplinary work has been recognized by the AIGA and the Type Directors Club. It has featured in many design related publications and has been exhibited in venues across the United States, Europe, and Asia. In 2012 I was elected as a member of the prestigious Alliance Graphique Internationale.

Presentations and Conferences

I have presented as main stage speaker at design conferences around the world including; The Type Director's Club (New York), ATypI (Mexico City), MOCA/Pacific Design Center (Los Angeles), Art Center College of Art and Design (Los Angeles), The School of the Art Institute (Chicago), TypCon Conference (Los Angeles), AIGA Y-Conference (San Diego), Kuala Lumpur Design Week (Malaysia) and Alliance Graphique Internationale Conference (London). In 2011 I presented a TEDx talk at UCLA.

Professional Activities

I have over 20 years experience teaching Typography and Design History courses at Central Saint Martins, Northern Illinois University, California State University Long Beach and the University of Southern California (USC). www.andrewbyrom.com
