Sarah Trussler

I have over 30 years' experience in education. I have worked in 4 primary schools and 3 universities. I have a particular interest in supporting students from widening participation backgrounds having been a 'first in family' student myself.

Teaching

I teach on initial teacher education (ITE) and children, young people and education courses (CYPE).

For ITE I teach:

  • Professional Studies
  • Early Years
  • SEND and inclusion

For CYPE I teach:

  • Safeguarding and Protection in Context
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing
  • Trauma Informed Practice
  • Critical Debates in SEND

Research

I am currently conducting research in the following areas:

  • Safeguarding and action learning sets in leadership development for a charity
  • Academic tutoring and mental health literacy
  • Academic tutoring practice
  • Identity development for students on ITE undergraduate programmes in communities of practice
