Northern Independent Press Collection

The Northern Independent Press Collection is a dedicated archive of works published by independent presses based in the north of England.

Started in 2017 by the York Centre for Writing, the Northern Independent Press Collection is housed in York St John University’s Fountains Learning Centre. It can be accessed through the University Library catalogue.

The collection celebrates and showcases the remarkable range of work and the spirit of experimentation in the publishers of the region. It includes prize-winning works of fiction, international works in translation, risk-taking poetry, and genre-defining short stories. It includes work by writers from the north as well as from across the world, from John Ashberry to Maya Chowdhry and Benjamin Myers to Ann Quinn.

For more information about the project, please contact Dr Robert Edgar on r.edgar@yorksj.ac.uk.
