I am a Senior Lecturer and Course Lead in Diagnostic Radiography, bringing a wealth of experience in clinical practice, academic leadership, and research. I hold a PhD (Diagnostic Imaging) from The National University of Malaysia, MSc (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) from the Anglia Ruskin University, UK, and Diploma (Radiologic Technology) from the University of Ghana. I have investigated the structural and functional brain alterations in Alzheimer's disease using multimodal magnetic resonance imaging for my PhD. I am also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AdvanceHE), reflecting my commitment to ongoing professional development, excellence in teaching, and the support of student learning, as well as my dedication to advancing and promoting high-quality education. With a professional background spanning diagnostic radiography, sonography, computed tomography, echocardiography, magnetic resonance imaging, 12-lead electrocardiography, and advanced neuroimaging, I have contributed to the development of diagnostic imaging education and practice Ghana, Malaysia, and the UK.
In my academic role, I lead curriculum design and programme development, support student learning through mentorship and supervision, and foster innovation in teaching and assessment.
I have teaching expertise spanning diagnostic radiography and medical imaging in Ghana, Malaysia, and the UK. In addition to core disciplinary teaching, I contribute to research-focused and imaging-related modules across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, supporting the development of students’ critical inquiry, methodological skills, and evidence-based practice.
My research interests focus on advanced diagnostic and multimodal medical imaging, with particular emphasis on neuroimaging, maternal-foetal imaging, and the application of artificial intelligence. I am especially interested in using AI and multimodal imaging techniques to improve image reconstruction, quantitative analysis, and early detection of disease, including neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative conditions. My work also engages with ethics, education, and workforce development in medical imaging, and climate change, particularly within global health and low-resource settings.
Recent publications
I demonstrate a strong commitment to academic excellence through my editorial role with BMC Medical Imaging and by serving as a peer reviewer for several high-impact journals, including the Malaysian Journal of Medicine & Health Sciences, International Journal of Biomedical Imaging, and Radiography. My scholarly engagement is further reflected in my role as Senior Abstract Reviewer for the 2026 Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM) Pregnancy Meeting (USA), abstract reviewer for the 2025 SMFM Pregnancy Meeting (USA), and peer reviewer for the 40th Annual Scientific Conference of the European Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Biology (ESMRMB).
In addition, I actively contribute to the advancement of the radiography profession and interdisciplinary research through membership in professional and research bodies such as the Humber and North Yorkshire Diagnostic Radiography Delivery Group, the Council for Allied Health Professions Research (York, UK), the European Society of Radiology, and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
