English Language Requirements

Students whose first language is not English should see below for our English Language Entry Requirements.

Please be aware that if you do not currently meet the English language requirements for your chosen course then we offer a number of Pre-sessional English courses to help you achieve the entry requirements. For these courses York St John University can only accept UK Visas & Immigration-approved SELT IELTS (IELTS for UKVI) exams as evidence of English language ability.

Please be aware that we are unable to accept Functional Skills in lieu of our English Language Requirements.

Please be aware that BA(Hons) Media Production: Journalism requires IELTS 7.5 (with no less than 7.5 in each component) or equivalent.
