Guide to applying
Research your course
Look through the course pages on our website and find the one you want to study.
Make a note of the course title for your application. Please note that some of our courses are only taught at our York, or London campuses. Use the ‘Filter Results’ drop-down menu to search by Study Level, Subject Area or Location.
If you are applying through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) you should also make a note of the UCAS code.

There are three ways to apply for a course:

York St John is fortunate to have country offices around the world. Our expert teams can help you with the entire process, from initial application through to finalising your student visa.
They provide these services free of charge, including essential document verification checks to assist in ensuring you receive a timely response to your application.

Direct to York St John University
You will find links to the application form on your chosen course page.
You will be able to create an application login and submit your application. For certain countries, you will need to complete a Prospective Student Enquiry Form which will be sent to our country office for further processing and assistance in making an application to the university.
These form are for international students applying for:
- Undergraduate courses
- Postgraduate courses
You will need to upload the following as part of the application process:
- A personal statement
- Clear scans of your Official qualifications: certificate and transcripts where appropriate (translated into English where necessary)
- Proof of English Language level
- Academic references - signed, dated, stamped and on official letterhead
- Copy of passport photo page and any previous UK visas
- CV
Complete our direct application form
Please be aware that we cannot accept direct applications from Africa, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka. We require all applications to be processed through our Country Offices. Please see Your Country page for further information on this.
Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS)
The application fee for 2025 entry is £28.50. UCAS Undergraduate applicants can add five choices to their application upon submission. Please register and log on to apply by visiting www.ucas.com.
UCAS applications open annually on 03 September and the deadline for equal consideration of all applications is 29 January 2025. UCAS Extra opens between 26 February and 4th July for those applicants who have used all five choices on the original application and are not holding any offers - they will be able to add another choice through Extra.
We will still consider applications made until 04 July 2025, when UCAS closes. All UCAS applications beyond this date are entered into Clearing.
When you apply through UCAS you will need:
- York St John's UCAS code: Y75
- The UCAS code for your course
- To pay for this service. The application fee for 2025 entry is £28.50
- When submitting an application through UCAS, if you are an International applicant, we also require clear scans of the above documents to be forwarded to global@yorksj.ac.uk for processing. Please ensure that you submit these documents with your 9 digit Student Reference number.
Receive your offer
If your application is successful, you will likely receive a Conditional Offer to join York St John University. Once you have received your conditional offer, you will receive an email invitation to register for Enroly CAS Shield.
Enroly CAS Shield is an enrolment portal that streamlines the application process, ensuring you can provide everything required quickly and easily.
Interacting with Enroly is important to completing the remaining steps to becoming a York St John student and enables you to start applying for a student visa well in advance of your course start date.
Once you have received the email to join, please complete the registration process as soon as possible so we can continue to support your on your UK study journey!
