We offer high quality and affordable counselling and mental health services to communities outside York St John University.

Founded in 2016, we are based on the York St John University campus. We are part of the Research and Training Clinic Consortium (RTCC).

Services offered by the Centre


General counselling for a range of difficulties including depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship problems, bereavement and loss.

Support groups

Our 10-week support groups are free to access. They currently include the Bereavement Support group and Cuppa and Conversation group.

Drop-in sessions

Drop in to one of our weekly groups. Current groups are the Breastfeeding group and Chat Café.

Centre research

As well as offering counselling services, the York St John Communities Centre also conducts research into current issues in mental health.

This includes research into bereavement, domestic and partner abuse and anger management.
