York St John University has provided me with various opportunities to network with solicitors and workers within the legal profession. Through this, I was also given the opportunity to send my CV to one of the law firms involved in the networking and received advice from an employer. The best thing about the course is the law clinic. York St John Law Clinic allows me to work with real cases rather than simulated cases and develop my practical skills whilst studying. These are skills and experiences that will put me in a great position when applying for jobs in the future. This experience has meant that by working on a variety of different cases and putting my knowledge to the test, I have discovered my preferred area of law. I feel I am gaining vital skills for the legal profession through practical experience that is not easily found in other universities. My experience as a student has been very good. My lecturers and peers have been very welcoming, I feel as though I have been studying here for years. The University has a very personal feel to it, and you really feel as though you are more than just a number.

This course has given us, and continues to offer, a multitude of opportunities to prepare us for the future. Within the first week, we were given two full days on how to build our professional character including social media platforms, teamwork and negotiation exercises and a fantastic mock interview with people from the Crown Prosecution Service and actual solicitor’s firms. This course is very practical based which has been great for me to improve and learn the skills required of someone that hopes to go into the legal sector. With smaller class sizes, it feels such a supportive environment to learn in and we are a close-knit family. I find that everyone likes to work and speak to everyone which as a result, heightens your experience at York St John University.
