At the start of the process I was a little hesitant and unsure of whether there would be any benefit. I have found the whole process easy and feel I am much better able to cope after speaking with my counsellor.

I found it helpful and I was really appreciative of the possibility to have a long-term therapy, it made a big difference.

[My counsellor] was really good. She didn't push me too far and when things felt too much, she helped me ground things.
Counselling client
[My counsellor] was a really great counsellor and did an amazing job at still being attune to changes in my demeanour/mood/emotions despite the barriers being over the phone can bring! She was very supportive and definitely kept my needs central to the counselling journey when new things came about and a shift in the narrative may take place.
Counselling client
[My counsellor] made me feel heard and seen, and that my feelings were important and valid and I couldn't have asked for more.
Counselling client
Speaking with my counsellor was really easy. From the off she was very easy to talk to and approachable. She was very accommodating when I had to move times or dates due to work/family commitments.

York St John was an open, non judgemental and safe space for me to work through my interpersonal problems. The person centred approach allowed me to think deeply about what it was I wanted to change and has been the beginning of my journey in reflecting on how to approach and be aware of my emotions. It was useful to have an objective perspective.

My experience with the counselling was also really positive, my counsellor was really supportive, friendly and empathetic. I felt comfortable enough in sessions to talk through traumatic experiences with them and felt listened to and understood. Their approach of reflecting back what I’m saying and encouraging me to sit with my emotions has been transformative in how I approach dealing with problems day-to-day, and a lot of their techniques I intend to use on myself now that my counselling has come to an end.

Life-changing. I was speaking with Gaz, who from the very first conversation was so easy to talk to. He allowed me to talk about what I needed to and let me lead the conversations, but guided me when it was needed. I feel like so many things have changed since the sessions started – I feel more in control of my emotions, more confident and able to apply what we talked about in the sessions. I will forever be grateful to him.

All communication by email and with Pat over the phone was warm, welcoming, friendly and professional. I had to rearrange my initial session last minute and Pat was extremely understanding and helpful. Access to 1 to 1 counselling was quick to access (crucial in times of poor mental health) and the graded costing made this service accessible to me, when otherwise it might not have been. I have recommended the service to a friend who is in need of some counselling - thank you ever so much for all your kind support and help.

Brilliant. From the off my counsellor Sukie corresponded with friendly, professional emails to prepare me for our first session. Her demeanour was calm, open and made me feel comfortable and supported to work through some of the issues I have been experiencing. Working with Sukie over the last 10 weeks has been significantly helpful for my health and wellbeing, and helped me get through quite a rough patch of poor mental health. She has been a skilled, caring and compassionate counsellor.
