What's On

Female Only Gym Session

We now have 3 female only^ gym sessions running each week*:

Monday: 8.00am - 10.00am

Wednesday: 6.00pm - 7.00pm

Friday: 8.00am - 10:30am

These sessions are FREE for existing members or £3.00 PAYG.

^ For anyone who identifies as female.
*During normal opening hours

Sessions will be capped at 20 users on a first come first serve basis.


Staff Only Gym Sessions

We now have two Staff Only Gym sessions each week, these take place on*:

Wednesday: 8:00am - 10:00am

Thursday: 8:00am - 10:00am

These sessions are FREE for existing members or £3.00 PAYG.

*During normal opening hours

Sessions will be capped at 20 users on a first come first serve basis.

Fitness Classes

We have a range of fitness classes on offer, including Yoga, Tai Chi and Zumba.  Please visit the fitness class webpage, which can be found under the Get Active button. 


Free Zumba Taster

Friday 26 January, Foss Sports Hall, 5:00pm - 6:00pm.  No booking required.
  
Come and join us for a fun, Latin dance move inspired class that will give you a great aerobic workout and hopefully a laugh or two. You don't need to be a dancer and we aim to provide a relaxed, friendly environment.  At the end of the day, the important thing is to keep moving and enjoy yourself.

National Workplace Challenge 

1 in 4 people exercise for less than 30 minutes per week. The average Brit sits for 8.9 hours per day.

If you are a staff member at York St John University, join us in tackling the National Workplace Challenge for the next 8 weeks. From the 8 January to 4 March YSJActive has teamed up with North Yorkshire Sport to change our daily working routine.

Via use of the Lunch Break Manifesto, the NWC is aiming to change the way we work by decreasing sick days and improving health and wellbeing. Encouraging us to eat as we work and use our lunch break to get outside and be active at the brightest and warmest part of the day, NWC hopes to revolutionise the regular office working day. Other initiatives such as holding walking meetings wherever possible are a great alternative to get up and out of the office!

YSJActive will be providing weekly challenges and 10/20 minute workout routines in the Foss gym across this period. Be sure to make use of the expertise provided!
