Community work
Get involved with projects that make a difference in the community and give you valuable teaching experience. For example, York: English as an Additional Language (YEAL) is a voluntary outreach programme led by students who work in local schools with pupils who have English as an additional language.
Societies and activities
There are multiple societies aimed at helping you practise your language skills and meet like-minded students from all year groups. Our current societies include Linguistics Society, Japanese Society, Korean Society and K-pop Dance Society.
We host fortnightly seminars known as the Colloquium Series during term time. At these you can hear from academics who work at universities all around the world. We also have more informal student-led gatherings such as East Asian Cinema club.
