Rob Hickey

Rob is Chief Operating Officer at York St John University and leads the Institution’s professional services teams (finance, HR, estates and campus services, IT, marketing & communications, student recruitment, admissions). He is also responsible for strategy & planning: leading major projects focused on business growth and innovation, from the delivery of major capital investment through to the expansion of the academic portfolio.

Rob joined YSJ in 2016 after 5 years in senior roles at Network Rail and 13 years in management consulting, where he worked with a range of public and private sector organisations on business strategy and change, and major capital programme related commissions. He holds a BSc from Lancaster University, an MSc from the London School of Economics and an Executive MBA (with Distinction) from Leeds University Business School. He is currently studying for his doctorate in Higher Education Management at the University of Bath, with recent publications in the areas of internationalisation and the funding of HE. Rob is also a Chartered Surveyor and a Member of the Association of Project Management.
