Mature student induction

New undergraduates who are 21 or over are classed as mature students.

Mature students bring a great deal of insight and life experience to our community, which is especially valuable in a learning environment. However, it is likely that you have had a break from education and/or are experiencing degree-level learning for the first time.

We strongly recommended that mature students should attend the following opportunities during Welcome Week that will help you settle in academically as well as socially:

Meet, Greet and Eat

Join our Meet, Greet and Eat daily drop-in, in a relaxed space to help you settle into university life. Explore support services, connect with current students, ask questions, and pick up tasty treats while you mingle. No booking needed, just pop along and say hello.

Digital Training

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday of Welcome Week

Join our amazing Digital Training team who will give you a summary of most of the software and systems that are used day to day at the University, to help you feel ready to start your studies off as effectively as possible.

Join our AI and your Studies workshop to help you understand from the outset how AI can and cannot support your academic journey. Tea, coffee and a sweet treat are included. A friendly, practical session to get you started.
