Booking an appointment

Get support through several types of appointment and our drop-in mornings.

There are 3 types of appointment you can book with our teams, and a weekly-drop-in.

Disability Practitioner appointments

Our Disability Practitioners can assist with:

  • Creating and reviewing your Learner Adjustment Plan (LAP)
  • Creating and reviewing a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP)
  • Questions about implementation of your recommended adjustments
  • Signposting to and liaison with academic schools

Please book a 1 hour appointment for creating a LAP or PEEP. For everything else, please choose the 30 minute option.

Service Coordinator appointments and drop-in

Beginning on 6 January 2025, our Service Coordinator drop-in will run on Tuesday and Friday mornings from 10.00am to 12.00pm. To visit the drop-in, come to the Holgate student information desk and let staff know you have arrived for the Disability Drop-In.

Our Service Coordinators are also available for booked appointments. They can assist with:

  • Information about the type of support available
  • Advice on the process of getting support at university
  • Support to book an appointment for a Learner Adjustment Plan (LAP)
  • Advice about seeking a diagnosis or medical evidence
  • Advice or support applying for Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSA)
  • Signposting to and liaison with specialist support services

Therapy dog appointments

An appointment on York Campus with Blue, our therapy dog, and a Disability Practitioner.

  • 15 minute session: Blue is there to listen, to be fussed or to sit quietly with. This time is your time and your space.
  • 30 minute session: Blue is there while you discuss any support requirements with a Disability Practitioner.
