Working with us

Recruit

We support your recruitment to attract motivated applicants from a diverse pool of talented individuals. We offer support with the Recruit An Apprentice service, advertising your vacancies on our website, through our social media and employer networks. We help to screen candidates and provide tailored insight sessions for line managers to help you find the perfect fit for your business needs.

Retain

Apprenticeships demonstrate to employees your investment in their professional development and career growth. This not only boosts the morale of your workforce but also cultivates a long term commitment to your company, improving staff retention and dedication.

Develop

At York St John we collaborate with employers to tailor our training programmes. We ensure that apprentices acquire the skills directly relevant to their business and help you achieve your organisational objectives. Apprenticeships combine on the job training with off the job academic learning, creating a dynamic, contextualised learning experience. Apprentices spend a minimum of 6 hours per week on off the job training, ensuring they gain both practical skills and theoretical knowledge to support their role.

Inspire

Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation within your organisation. Our programmes inspire employees to reach their full potential, driving your business forward with fresh ideas and innovative solutions. Apprentices not only develop essential skills but also gain leadership capabilities, preparing them for future roles within your organisation and contributing to your overall business success.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a degree apprenticeship, apprentices must be 16 or over, not in full time education, and living in England.

Apprentices must spend at least 50% of their working hours in England over the duration of the apprenticeship.

Apprenticeships can be pursued at a higher level than existing qualifications or in new, substantive skills areas.

Entry requirements for degree level apprenticeships (Level 6 and Level 7) vary but generally require accredited prior learning and Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths.

Funding

Funding for degree apprenticeships varies depending on the pay bill of your organisation.

Employers with a pay bill over £3 million pay for apprenticeship training through their Apprenticeship Levy which is managed through the Apprenticeship Service. If your funds are insufficient, you only pay 5% of the outstanding balance, with the government covering the rest. If you have unused levy funds, you can transfer up to 25% to other employers to enable them to develop their workforce.

Employers with a pay bill under £3 million can receive levy transfers from larger employers or can pay just 5% towards training and assessment costs, with the government covering the rest! For employers with fewer than 50 employees, the government pays 100% of training costs for apprentices aged 16 to 18 or 19 to 24 with additional needs.
