IT support for students and staff
How to access IT support
Learn how to access IT help for students or staff, including how to reset your passwords.
IT support for all York St John students and staff is available through our dedicated platforms.
Our IT support officers here to help with IT issues and problems. Help is available from 8.30am to 5.00pm from Monday to Thursday, and from 8.30am to 4.30pm on Friday. The team can help with password and log in issues, IT security, university hardware problems, and university software problems.

Reset a password
Use the drop-down below for information on how to reset your password on University systems.
Your York St John IT account is used to access most of the University's digital systems including e:Vision. You can change or reset your password from the login page for your account.
Use our Resetting or changing your YSJ password (PDF, 0.5 MB) guide to manage your password.
If you are applying for or staying in University accommodation you will have an accommodation account. You can reset your PIN from the login page for your account.
If you are applying to study with us you will have an applicant account.
Library online resources
You should use your York St John IT account (username and password) to access online Library resources, including ebooks, ejournals and databases.
You can use either your username or your full email address when logging in to Library resources.
For students, your username will be in the format jane.smith.
For staff, your username will be in the format j.smith.
Your York St John email address is your username followed by @yorksj.ac.uk.
Library loans
You can check the items you have on loan by using your Library account. This is a separate account and to log in you will need:
- Your individual borrower number (the same number that appears on your student ID card)
- Your individual 4 digit PIN (set by the user)
You can reset your PIN from the login page for your Library account.
You can log into the campus WiFi using your York St John IT account username and password.
Students who have completed registration can connect immediately.

Student IT support and digital training
For support with IT issues, current students can log IT requests and jobs on the Student Hub. You can also access help pages which provide self-service guidance for some common issues.
Our Digital Training team in Library and Learning Services are also available to help you make the most of the digital resources at York St John. They can help with:

Staff IT support and digital training
Staff should log IT requests and jobs through our IT Support portal.
Our Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) team in Innovation and Technology Services are also available to help staff make the most of digital resources at York St John. They can help with:
- Getting started with IT at York St John
- Digital inclusivity and accessibility
- Digital skills development
- 1 to 1 training, group training sessions and online support
