York St John was everything to me; when I came here at eighteen I was so anxious, at school no one really noticed or expected anything from me. But I really blossomed at university; it gave me so much confidence.’ English Literature graduate, 2016.
Thousands of students have blossomed at York St John University since Edward Cordukes enrolled at York Training School in 1841. We were founded on the ideals of widening participation and social justice. These ideals remain at the core of everything we strive to be and do today, from ground-breaking research into mental health to our links with local schools, to giving opportunities to those students who are least likely to enter Higher Education.
Our focus isn’t just on getting students to apply to York St John, it’s on helping them blossom during their time here and throughout their lives. We do this through scholarships, through our incredible student support and careers team, by ensuring every student is inspired by academics who continue to push boundaries with innovative projects and research.
