Staff Profile
Dr Gabriel Aboyadana
Lecturer, Economics
I was awarded a PhD for my research in Economics at the University of Strathclyde. Before this, I was awarded an MPhil in Finance and a bachelor's degree in Economics at the University of Ghana. My Masters in Finance was a two-year programme; the first year was dedicated to taught modules in theoretical and quantitative Finance and modules in business management. My 4-year bachelor's in Economics was a fine mix of theoretical, quantitative and applied modules in economics, mathematics, statistics and econometrics. In selecting optional modules, I selected those whose topics are not partly covered in any other modules. This helped me to develop my understanding of many sub-fields of economics. Because this was a liberal arts degree, I took modules in disciplines such as Study of Religions, Philosophy and Information Studies. I have also taken professional courses in Accountancy. I am currently studying Law at the University of London and will become a solicitor soon.
As a lecturer, I bring my diverse backgrounds to bear on my teaching to widen the scope of my students' learning. My teaching experience has spanned Foundation to postgraduate courses in England, Wales, Scotland and Ghana.
Outside my role as a lecturer, I am a real estate investor and a Christian. My Christian values underpin everything I do and define me. I value collaborative teamwork, independent work, and intellectual and professional autonomy. I thrive in environments that promote these qualities.
I am open to enquiries for consulting in Development Economics, Financial Economics and Banking.
