Muhammad Ashar Asdullah

I am a Lecturer in Business and Management (Assistant Professor) and Module Director for the MRes Thesis at York St John University, London Campus. I also serve as Deputy Module Director for Accounting and Finance for Decision Making (AFDM) and am a member of the Innovation and Technology for Sustainable Organisations (ITSO) Research Group.

Previously, I was a Teaching Fellow/ Lecturer at Norwich Business School, University of East Anglia, UK, where I also did my postdoctoral training with the Employment Systems and Institutions (ESI) Research Group. I was a member of the NBS Research Ethics Committee and the Student Engagement Committee. My teaching philosophy aligns with the Teaching Excellence Framework. I have experience of delivering classroom based as well as online and remote teaching on both part time and full time programmes since May 2014. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

I have completed my PhD (Business and Management) and Master’s degree from the University of Salford, Manchester, UK. I have completed my PG Cert Higher Education Practice (HEP) from the University of East Anglia, UK. My research focuses on management control systems and performance measurement, particularly in the banking and healthcare sectors, as well as innovation, AI, and sustainability in organizations. I have published in prestigious, peer-reviewed, Scopus-indexed journals. My doctoral research examined the impact of management control systems on organizational performance by applying the framework of performance measurement systems.
