Course information

Who is this course for?

Any organisation type that has an issue that needs addressing. We have worked with charities and apprenticeship tutors. We are happy to work with SMEs, education, NHS, charities. We have one set of cards related to safeguarding cases and leadership; and one set focused on generic leadership issues.

What will I learn?

The delegates will learn how to facilitate discussions on a shared issue viewed from a range of lenses or perspectives. The approach ensures that there is equality in terms of the voices, without the leadership structures that can sometimes limit the voices that are heard. This will support ongoing discussions within teams, adapted for different groups within their organisation.

How will I learn?

The course includes a facilitated action learning set using the guidance cards so that participants can experience the process themselves. They will receive the set of cards and have a few months to apply them to their setting during which time the facilitators will remain available for further guidance.

Course leader biographies

Dr Sarah Trussler and Sue Shippen both have experience as safeguarding leads in educational and children’s services settings. Initially the lenses emerged from action learning sets focused on safeguarding issues and the need to examine these from the perspective of clients, parents, care workers etc. Once we had created the Multiple Lens View Model, we also created a generic model that can address any organisational issue that requires examination in a new way.

Sarah has worked in higher education and primary education for over 30 years. Her doctorate focused on children with SEND. She has worked as trustee for a local charity and been involved in staff development for many years.

Sue has worked in Education for 33 years, and during that time as a senior manager for 25 yrs. Her doctorate is focused on early years education and stakeholder roles and responsibilities. Working collaboratively to effect change
