A guest lecture by Dr Aaron Winter on racism, resistance and the mainstreaming of the Far Right

For the third event in our 2025/26 Discussing Decolonisation series, we will be joined by Dr Aaron Winter (Lancaster) for a guest lecture on racism, reactionary politics and the mainstreaming of the Far Right.

The talk will take place in person, at York St John University, but will be recorded for those who are unable to join us in person on the day. More details below and to follow.

 

Speaker bio:

Aaron Winter is Senior Lecturer in Sociology at Lancaster University and Research Associate at the University of Witwatersrand. He is co-editor of Historical Perspectives on Organised Crime and Terrorism (Routledge) and Researching the Far Right: Theory, Method and Practice (Routledge), and co-author of Reactionary Democracy: How Racism and the Populist Far Right Became Mainstream (Verso).

Aaron has published widely in a range of academic and non-academic contexts and appears regularly in the media. He is co-editor of Identities: Global Studies in Culture and Power and the Manchester University Press series Racism, Resistance and Social Change; a trustee of the Runnymede Trust and Sociological Review Foundation; and on the convening committee of the Reactionary Politics Research Network (RPRN) and editorial board of Ethnic and Racial Studies.
