I am a lecturer of Computer Science and a member of the Cybersecurity Research Group at York St John University. My research interests primarily focus on the preservation of privacy within cyber security systems, especially biometrics like voice. My past explorations within this area have included an investigation regarding human computer interaction (HCI) and the trust we consider with smart speakers, different user perceptions of various biometric methods for Internet of Things (IoT) systems and exploring decentralised solutions for biometrics storage to produce a one-to-many framework.
The key aspect of my work of the last few years has been creating a framework following the principles of Privacy by Design (PbD) for a one-to-many voice biometric verification system, exploring how decentralisation can help meet the expectations of not only user privacy but also legislation such as GDPR.
Regarding teaching I have a diverse portfolio supporting a wide range of subjects taught for Computer Science, Cyber Security, & Software Engineering. This includes, but not limited to, digital forensics for investigations in cyber incidents – focusing on forensic analysis that complies with legal requirements, programming courses for C# and Python languages, and agile development and software engineering.
