I am a public health academic and medical doctor with experience spanning higher education, health research, and health systems strengthening in both the UK and Nepal. My academic background includes an MBBS, an MSc in International Social Welfare and Health Policy, and a PhD in Public Health from the University of Huddersfield.
My work is driven by a commitment to improving population health through evidence-informed policy and practice. I am particularly interested in understanding how health systems can better respond to complex public health challenges, especially in relation to non-communicable diseases, health inequalities, and evidence-informed policymaking.
I am committed to advancing public health through high-quality teaching, collaborative research, and partnerships that strengthen health systems and improve population health outcomes. Alongside my academic work, I have collaborated with universities, government agencies, healthcare organisations, and international partners on research and capacity-building initiatives. My experience as both a clinician and public health researcher informs my interdisciplinary approach to addressing health and social issues.
I teach across postgraduate programmes in Public Health. I am passionate about creating inclusive, engaging, and research-informed learning environments to support student success. My teaching experience includes delivering lectures, seminars, and workshops on public health. I have supervised master's dissertations and contributed to teaching, assessment, and curriculum delivery across a range of public health and healthcare-related modules.
My research focuses on public health policy, health systems strengthening, programme evaluation, and evidence-informed policymaking. I am particularly interested in understanding how policies are developed, implemented, and evaluated to improve population health outcomes. My doctoral research examined the formulation and evaluation of non-communicable disease policy in Nepal.
I have contributed to a range of funded national and international research projects involving health policy analysis, realist evaluation, systematic and scoping reviews, ageing and social isolation, visual impairment, maternal health, and digital health interventions. My methodological expertise includes qualitative research, realist approaches, evidence synthesis, and policy evaluation. My work aims to generate evidence that informs policy, practice, and service improvement.
I have worked across academia, health research, health policy, and clinical practice in both the UK and Nepal. Prior to entering academia, I practised as a medical doctor in hospital settings, providing care in paediatrics and women's health services.
I have contributed to collaborative research and policy initiatives with universities, government bodies, and health sector organisations, including work supporting evidence-informed health policymaking and health systems strengthening. I am committed to fostering collaborative partnerships, supporting public engagement, and contributing to academic communities through mentoring, student support, conference participation, and professional service activities.
