I am an expert in the sociology of sport and exercise. I have a Bachelor's in Human Kinetics from the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria, where I graduated with First Class Honours. After my first degree, I proceeded to pursue a Masters degree in the Sociology of Sports and Exercise from the University of Chester, England, where I graduated with distinction. Currently, I am in my PhD programme focusing on the sociological analysis of the application of heading policies in boys' professional football academies in the UK.
With 8 years of professional experience in the field of sports and exercise science, I am passionate about teaching, researching and contributing to the body of knowledge in the field of sports and exercise science. I have experience in teaching Physical Education (PE) at both Key Stage 3 and 4 levels, as well as experience at the Higher Education (HE) level in teaching the sociology of sports and exercise, academic skills in sports and exercise science, as well as PE and sports coaching modules. I currently teach in the Physical Education and Sports Coaching Module, where I am privileged to co-teach on both foundation year, first-year and second-year modules. Also, I serve as a Visiting Lecturer (VL) in the Business School Journalism Department, where I teach the Sports Journalism and Society Module to second-year students.
My research interests cover areas of physical education, youth sports and health/well-being in sports, using relevant sociological theories in analysing and making sense of various issues in sports. My PhD research focus is the application of head-related policies in boys' professional football academies in the UK.
