I graduated from Teesside University with a distinction (DipHE) in Operating Department Practice in 2012 and have worked in hospitals around the North East of England in orthopaedic scrub, anaesthetics and recovery and cardiothoracic scrub. During this time, I completed a BSc in Practice Innovation: Acute and Critical Care and worked as a Specialist Screening Practitioner with the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.
I am currently a PhD candidate at Teesside University exploring perioperative nutrition and older adult hip fracture patients. My other interest areas include global perioperative care, postgraduate opportunities for qualified perioperative staff, and exploring opportunities for links between public health and perioperative care.
I am Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Fitness to Practice Panel Member for the Health and Care Professions Council and a member of the NIHR Reviewer Scheme.
