I am a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management at York Business School, York St John University. My professional background spans banking and higher education, combining practical organisational experience with academic expertise. I hold a PhD in Human Resource Management (HRM) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, and an MSc in Business Analytics, awarded with distinction, from the University of Northampton.
My teaching and research focus on how organisations can develop inclusive, supportive and effective working environments. My interests include inclusive leadership, employee voice, employee engagement, job performance, employment relations, work–life balance, performance management, digital transformation in HRM, change management and sustainability. I am particularly interested in how leadership and human resource management practices shape employees’ experiences and organisational outcomes.
I serve as an Editorial Board Member for Humanities and Social Sciences Communications, a Springer Nature journal. Alongside academic publishing, postgraduate research supervision and assessment, I have had opportunities to conduct evaluations for numerous businesses across the Southern African Development Community (SADC). These experiences inform my approach to connecting academic research with organisational practice.
I use quantitative and qualitative research approaches and support the development of students’ research skills. Through my teaching and research, I aim to encourage critical thinking, advance responsible people management and contribute to more inclusive workplaces.
