I am a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at York St John University where I have also worked as a Lecturer in Police Studies and Course Lead for the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) in partnership with Humberside Police. Prior to joining York St John, I was Programme Lead for the Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP) at Leeds Trinity University, working in collaboration with West Yorkshire Police. I have also worked as a Lecturer in Policing, Law, and Criminology at Teesside University and the University of Lincoln. In 2019, I worked as a Police Constable for West Yorkshire Police serving the Leeds District including Leeds South and Leeds City Centre.
Prior to joining the Police, I obtained a PhD in law at the University of Lincoln where I published several times in the area of green criminology and environmental crime. In November 2020 I published my first book “Uniting Green Criminology and Earth Jurisprudence". My most recent research is in the upcoming areas of space criminology and astro-green criminology.
I have been a fellow of the Higher Education Academy since 2021.
Also in 2021, I gained a distinction (78% overall) in the PGCHE Masters Course from Leeds Trinity University.

I am an expert in space law and the criminology of outer space and I am interested in PhD candidates and publishing partners who are also interested in these unique and understudied areas of criminology.
In 2023, I published the book "Space Criminology: Analysing Human Relationships with Outer Space" alongside distinguished Professor Rob White (University of Tasmania, Australia). This was the first book dedicated solely to the upcoming discipline of Space Criminology. In 2024, I published an edited book, "Crime, Criminal Justice and Ethics in Outer Space: International Perspectives" alongside Associate Professor Yarin Eski (Vrije Universiteit, The Netherlands). This book consisted of 24 chapters from 26 authors in 13 different countries spanning 6 continents.
I am also an expert in fracking and completed my PhD on the subject of fracking and environmental harm at the University of Lincoln, UK, in 2018.
