I joined York St John University Law School in August 2022, coming directly from 10 years in practice as a qualified solicitor specialising in all aspects of Family Law including divorce, finances, public law (care) and dispute around child arrangements. I also acquired experience in other areas of practice including criminal law, private client (wills and probate), housing, Court of Protection and even the occasional neighbour dispute.

I obtained a doctorate in the biological sciences and subsequently taught science at secondary and further education for a period of time before entering the law as a profession.

I am delighted to have joined the law school at York St John and I very much look forward to bringing together my teaching skills and my recent experiences of the law in practice, to hopefully inspire the next generation of lawyers with a real understanding of the significance of and societal impact of the law, and equip them with the tools to build a successful career.

I qualified as a secondary and further education science teacher, and taught all sciences in Coventry, York, Leeds and Harrogate before entering the law profession.

While practicing as a solicitor I gained some experience as a guest lecturer to maintain my teaching skills.

I have now been lecturing at York St John University since August 2022, and am module lead for the Family law modules at Levels 6 and 7, module lead for "Anatomy of a Crime 2" on the Foundation Course, have taught in the first and second year skills based modules (Law in Action 1 and 2), and teach the Law Clinic taught element to Level 6 students while supervising Level 6 and Level 7 Law Clinic firms.

I completed my PhD thesis at Warwick University in 2002, entitled "Functional Interactions of the Adenovirus Serotype 5 E4Orf3 protein in a cellular context".
