In my role as a Lecturer in Academic Practice, my work centres around academic development and, in particular, implementing aspects of the university's Learning and Teaching Strategy. My current main area of responsibility is in developing the university's approach to anti-racist and decolonial work, with projects including enhancing our digital resources and curating a programme of events. I am also involved in staff CPD, the AdvanceHE Fellowship Scheme and the induction of new academic staff.

My background is in literary criticism, focusing specifically on American literary modernism. I worked as a university teacher in English and American Studies at the University of Manchester and the University of Liverpool for a number of years, before moving into academic development at Bradford College University Centre and Leeds Beckett University. I have published in both fields and continue to be interested in literary scholarship, as well as the scholarship of teaching and learning.

I work on both the Academic Induction and the AdvanceHE Fellowship Scheme.

I am particularly interested in both technologies for learning and anti-racist pedagogy.

Recent publications

I am co-chair of the ALDinHE (Association of Learning Developers in Higher Education) LearnHigher Working Group, a graduate of the AdvanceHE Aurora Women's Leadership Scheme and a Senior Fellow of AdvanceHE.
