Hello! I’m Rachael and I manage the Student Recruitment Team at York St John University, leading on our work with schools and colleges to support prospective students in exploring their options and making informed decisions about higher education.
My role involves providing strategic oversight of the University's student recruitment activity, working closely with teachers, advisers and our academic schools and professional services teams to deliver a wide range of events and engagement opportunities.
Before joining the Student Recruitment Team, I worked in Widening Participation, leading outreach projects for primary school pupils, care experienced young people and residential summer schools. Prior to working in higher education, I spent several years as a primary school teacher, where I was particularly passionate about encouraging young people, especially girls, to pursue their interests in STEM subjects.
I am a firm believer in the value of lifelong learning. Alongside my professional role, I am currently completing a Degree Apprenticeship in Project Management, which enables me to speak authentically about the opportunities and support available here at YSJ.
Outside work, I enjoy gardening and writing creatively in my favourite genre: cosy fantasy.
