I am a Senior Lecturer and Programme Lead for the CYPE undergraduate degree programmes. I am also the Learning and Teaching Lead in the School of Education, Language and Psychology. Finally, I also lead the Inclusion, Society, and Education research group.
I have lectured at York St John University since 2015, first lecturing in Physical Education and Youth Sport, and more recently as a senior lecturer in Children, Young People and Education.
I have a varied professional background, with the education of others as a running theme. I am a qualified primary teacher (upper primary) with experience of KS1 and KS2 classroom teaching, physical education teaching, subject leadership, school consultancy and school governance. Other professional roles have included serving in the British Armed Forces and working in areas such as the health and fitness industry, disability sports development, and for the England Cricket Board as a Coach Developer.

The title of my Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD) thesis is: 'The Relationship Between Perfectionism and Burnout in Pre-Service Primary School Teachers'. This has allowed me to better understand the complex pressures faced by undergraduate pre-service primary teachers.
My key research interests include:
- Teacher mental health and wellbeing
- The use of technology within education environments
- The Physical Education environment
- Experiences within disability sport
- Military transition
I am also the co-lead of the Inclusion, Society and Education research group.
