Staff Profile
Dr Efosa Osagie
Lecturer
I am Dr Efosa Osagie, a lecturer in the Computer Science and Data Science department at York St John University, London Campus. As an experienced Computer scientist, I bring significant practical experience from higher education and industry. I have a PhD in Data Science with a speciality in Computational Medical Image Analysis from the University of Hertfordshire. I earned my MSc in Information Technology from the University of Bolton and my Bachelor in Materials and Production Engineering from Ambrose Alli University, Nigeria.
My professional interests lie at the intersection of computer science, information engineering, electrical engineering, physics, mathematics and medicine. This field develops computational and mathematical methods for solving problems pertaining to medical images and their use for biomedical research and clinical care. I am highly skilled in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Applied Medical Imaging Analysis, and data security management and a deep understanding of relational database systems and large-distributed databases complements this.

Further information
Teaching
I teach master's-level computer and data science modules, specifically in data science and machine learning. I am also responsible for teaching practical sessions and assessments for these modules, focusing on a problem-based learning approach to drive students’ motivation and learning. I also supervise master's final dissertation projects and teach research methods and techniques.
Research
My research interest is applying computer vision and machine learning methods to medical image analysis. I have made significant contributions to the field, including various high-impact journal articles and conferences on biomedical image segmentation, medical image character recognition systems, Siamese networks, Imaging analysis, Transfer Learning, and Generative Modelling based on Variational Autoencoders.
