I am an Academic Associate and Doctoral Researcher in Psychology at York St John University.
I did my Integrated Masters at University of York in Psychology, graduating in 2023. My dissertation used VR to test if viewing the self from a 3rd person point of view could increase the accuracy of an individual's estimation of body sizes, and if such changes were associated with sub-clinical mood ratings and disordered eating levels. My doctoral research follows on from this, on the topic of eating disorders.

Research
My current research looks at the unique impact that having a disability can have on an individual's disordered eating habits, for better or for worse, with an emphasis on body image. Throughout is an awareness of intersectionality and a shift away from any deficit models of disability.
I completed data collection for my first study of my PhD in December 2024 - interviewing individuals on their influencing factors and relationships with their disability, their body image, their eating habits, and the potential associations between. Reflexive Thematic Analysis (Braun and Clarker, 2013) is used, alongside member checking - where individuals can choose to confirm or edit my initial interpretations of their data.
Future studies will look at eating disorder measurements - seeing if they accurately capture behaviours within this demographic and how, if they do at all, they could be adjusted to become more appropriate. Within this line of enquiry lies the potential for a new scale of measurement.
