Jaime Day

Senior Lecturer: Placement Engagement Lead

I graduated from the University of Hull with a BSc (Hons) in Adult Nursing in 2009 before completing my Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (Health Visiting) qualification. My career has spanned both acute and community settings, where I developed a strong interest in public health, person-centred care and supporting individuals across the lifespan.

After several years in clinical practice, I moved into education in 2020, supporting international nurses at York & Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. I joined the University of Hull in 2021, supporting students in both practice and academic environments.
I am currently completing the MSc in Dementia at the University of Hull, where my research explores how nursing education prepares students to work confidently with people living with dementia.

A Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, I am passionate about compassionate education, student belonging and championing excellence in dementia care.
I have presented at regional and national conferences and published in The Nursing Times. My ongoing interests include developing inclusive learning environments and enhancing placement quality through collaboration across health and education.
