Teaching

I lead on inclusion and languages in Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and teach on a range of modules across ITE programmes on these subjects. I am module lead for Learning Outside the Classroom (LOTC), Inclusive and Holistic Practices (Foundation Year). I am module leader on the National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination (NASENCO) and Masters in Special Education Needs and Inclusion (MASENI).

Research

My research interests stem from my background in inclusion, anthropology and languages and passion for inclusion, equality and social justice. My current research projects include:

  • Developing inclusive practice in Initial Teacher Education
  • Place, pedagogy and play in learning outside the classroom
  • Creative pedagogy in languages education

Building on my Master’s research which employed participatory research methods to explore the Primary Curriculum through dance, I am passionate about developing research that includes multiple ‘voices’; applying anthropological and participatory research methods to inform creative and inclusive pedagogies in education.

Professional Activities

I am a member of the British Educational Research Association (BERA) and National Association for Special Educational Needs (NASEN) and the Association for Language Learning (ALL).
