I am a microbiologist and public health researcher with expertise in antimicrobial resistance and pathogen diversity in infectious diseases. I hold a BSc (2003), MSc (2007), and PhD (2012) in Microbiology from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and a master's in Public Health from Middlesex University, UK (2023).
My MSc investigated the public health risks of human activities in harbours and jetties, while my PhD focused on the antibacterial properties of honey against resistant wound pathogens. More recently, my master's in Public Health research examined the impact of telemedicine on obesity management in the pre and post COVID-19 era.
I have presented some of my work at national and international conferences, including as a Keystone Symposia Global Health Travel Award recipient. I have published widely in peer-reviewed journals such as African Journal of Microbiology Research, African Journal of Biotechnology, Bulletin of the National Research Centre, International Journal of Microbiology, and the Pan African Medical Journal. My research interests include:
- Molecular analysis of antimicrobial resistance genes
- Epidemiological investigation of global disease trends
- Addressing global challenges in public health
I joined York St John University London Campus in August 2025, where I am a postgraduate lecturer in Health Management Programmes (Public Health and Global Healthcare Management).
- School – London

Teaching
I am an experienced lecturer with over 10 years teaching experience. I achieved my Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) status in February 2025.
Research
I am an active microbiologist and public health researcher with expertise in antimicrobial resistance and pathogen diversity in infectious diseases associated with clinical and community settings.
I have secured funding from the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) and the Centre for International Co-operation in Science (CICS) India for research on bioactive natural products, as well as a TETFund award Nigeria for studies on tetracycline-resistant Escherichia coli and honey's therapeutic potential in diabetic wound infections. I am a three-time Keystone Symposia Global Health Travel Award recipient by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
