I was awarded Doctorate from the University of York in the year 2022 for my thesis titled ‘The impact of Athena Swan accreditation on the lived experiences of early- and mid-career researchers: A qualitative study of an Athena Swan gold award-holding department’. My grounded theory research focused on gender and organisations particularly looking at the gender equality frameworks in the academic sector and their impact on the organisational culture. I have also been involved with research projects in the area of business and sustainability looking at the progress of UK businesses towards the net-zero carbon goal from a regional perspective.

Teaching

I have received the Fellowship from the UK HEA and currently teach across graduate and postgraduate modules in business management. I am also involved in teaching research modules and supervising dissertation/capstone research students.

Research

I am a lecturer in Business and Management at York Business School (YBS). My early research specialised in the area of gender and organisations, with my PhD. examining the impact of Athena Swan accreditation on the lived experiences of early- and mid-career researchers. I was awarded Doctorate in Management from the University of York where I continued my teaching and research activities. Following my PhD I worked as a research associate at the University of York, I worked with esteemed researchers in the area of business and sustainability particularly in relation to the Net zero carbon efforts of the UK.

At York St John University I continue to develop my research on spatial performativity and gender in organisational contexts. Recently, I presented my research at the UFHRD International Conference 2023 at the National Collage of Ireland. Also, I am a member of the departmental research group ‘PiES’ where the research group examines different aspects of people in employment settings.
