I am Dr Vaibhav Agarwal, a Lecturer in the Department of Computer and Data Science at York St John University London. Prior to joining YSJ London, I was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Trinity College Dublin, where my research focused on Blockchain technologies and emerging digital ecosystems.
With over 12 years of experience spanning academia and industry, I bring a multidisciplinary perspective that bridges academic theory with real-world practice. I hold a PhD at the intersection of Software Engineering and Natural Language Processing (NLP), as well as a Master of Engineering (M.E.) in Software Engineering. My academic experience encompasses teaching, research, curriculum development, and student supervision at internationally recognised institutions, including universities ranked among the QS World University Top 500.
Prior to transitioning fully into academia, I developed a strong foundation in the technology sector through my involvement in the delivery of mission-critical solutions for Fortune 500 clients. Throughout my industry career, I undertook a variety of roles across the software development lifecycle, including Full Stack Developer, Software Tester, Automation Engineer, System Integrator, and DevOps Practitioner. My experience includes designing and developing scalable applications, building reporting solutions, implementing automated testing frameworks, maintaining and optimising CI/CD pipelines, debugging complex enterprise systems, and delivering robust technology solutions within Agile environments.
This breadth of experience enables me to bring a practical and industry-informed perspective to my teaching, helping students connect theoretical foundations with contemporary challenges, industry best practices, and the skills required to succeed in an increasingly digital and data-driven world.
Alongside my teaching and research activities, I have actively engaged in technology innovation and entrepreneurial initiatives, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop digital solutions and translate emerging technologies into practical, real-world applications.
As an educator, I am committed to fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and innovation, while helping students develop the technical, analytical, and professional competencies needed to become future leaders in computing, data science, and emerging technologies.
My research interests lie in the convergence of intelligent systems, decentralised technologies, and data-driven decision-making. I am passionate about exploring how emerging technologies can be leveraged to address complex challenges and create meaningful impact across academia, industry, and society.
