Global Sustainability Research Programme
This research group is led by Professor Alex Lo.
Sustainability entails maintaining a balance between environmental, social, and economic well-being for present and future generations.
The purpose of this research group is to enable researchers and students at York St John University to develop strategic research projects that can contribute to the various aspects United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) It is also set up to explore and strengthen international collaborations and partnerships in order to support the University’s internationalization strategy. It is a cross-school initiative, involving research active colleagues from York Business School, School of Humanities, and the London Campus.
The aims of this research group are:
- To strengthen our capacity for interdisciplinary research.
- To support international research networking and partnerships.
- To develop research with a social and environmental impact.
- To engage policymakers, stakeholders, and the community in sustainability research.
- To promote a culture of external/international research collaboration and peer support within the University.
This research group brings together academics and practitioners who are interested in exploring development pathways that are environmentally sustainable and socially equitable. Our main areas of research interest include but are not limited to:
