Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP)
A Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) is a bespoke escape plan for individuals who may have difficulties evacuating a building.
A Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) is created in collaboration with you and our Disability and Inclusion team to put in place the support you need to evacuate in an emergency.
You may need a PEEP if you have one or more of the following:
- Mobility conditions
- Sight conditions
- Hearing conditions
- Neurodiverse or mental health conditions
- Other circumstances that may affect your ability to evacuate (for example, underlying health conditions, pregnancy or short-term injuries)
The key question that determines whether a PEEP is required is 'can you evacuate a building unaided in a reasonably prompt manner during an emergency situation?' If the answer is no, then a PEEP is likely to be required.
Creating your plan
When you register with the Disability Support and Inclusion team (DSIT) you will be asked if you need a PEEP.
York Campus
If you are studying at our York Campus, a member of the DSIT team will meet with you on campus once you have your timetable and create a PEEP.
London Campus
If you are studying at our London Campus, the DSIT team will notify the London Campus teams that a PEEP is required. A member of staff in London will carry out the PEEP and notify the DSIT team so this can be added to your Learner Adjustment Plan (LAP).
