Scholarship Plus
At York St John University we offer personalised support to our students.
Our teams of experts are here to support you throughout your university experience.
They can help with a range of issues and situations, to help you realise your ambitions and potential.
From September 2025 onwards, new students who are recipients of our York St John Scholars Scholarships will join the Scholarships Plus programme.
Eligible students will be automatically enrolled on the Scholarships Plus programme and will be informed of upcoming events, activities and opportunities.
Examples of previous activities offered include a welcome drop-in and socials, tailored workshops on topics including budgeting, employability, and winter wellness, as well as access to a dedicated Scholarships Plus Moodle site.
Opportunity and Mobility Fund
The purpose of the fund is to allow Scholarships Plus students the opportunity to undertake opportunities or activities that enhance their employability, professional skills or support their programme of study.
The Opportunity and Mobility fund seeks to remove the barriers and financial impact of attending a career or professional related opportunity.
Applicants are encouraged to read the guidance documentation before applying to the fund.
Why you should apply
Undertaking an external opportunity can help you to learn new skills, network with new people, gain clarity on your interests/aspirations, and is excellent to write on your CV.
Eligibility
Applications will open in semester two. Students must be part of the Scholarships Plus programme.
The opportunity needs to be something additional to and outside of your course. We cannot financially support any opportunities that are a mandatory part of modules and/or programmes.
We cannot support retrospective applications for opportunities that have already taken place.
What you can apply for
The funding you are applying for must fall within at least one of the below categories
- Opportunity admission funds: such as the cost of attending a conference or training course.
- Additional essential costs: required to attend an opportunity such as travel and/or accommodation costs, costs of purchasing specialist equipment such as personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Loss of expenses: loss of wages incurred by attending an opportunity.
