Midwifery and Nursing Practice Placements
Information about midwifery and nursing practice placements for practice supervisors, practice assessors and academic assessors.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) (2018) published standards for student supervision and assessment that introduced 4 new roles to support student practice learning. These are: practice supervisor, practice assessor, practice learning facilitator and academic assessor. Together, they will support the learning, supervision and assessment of students in practice. These new standards apply to York St John University's pre-registration midwifery and nursing courses.

The academic assessor will oversee student placement learning from the university. They will discuss progress with the student and the practice assessor. Practitioners cannot be the practice supervisor and practice assessor for the same student.
