Learn more about York St John University and meet with key staff from our Student Recruitment, Widening Participation and Admissions teams.

The 2025 Conference is suitable for those who attended our 2023 event. The programme includes new information and sessions.

We'll provide you with key updates on new courses, plus information about the UCAS admissions process and our contextual offer scheme. You'll also learn about how we support our students and how we are responding to provide support with the cost of living crisis.

Current students will answer your questions about life at York St John, giving an authentic student perspective. Some students may even be from your own institutions!

Introduction and Keynote Speech - Professor Karen Bryan, Vice Chancellor.

Presenters will also include:

  • Grant Saker, Head of Student Recruitment & Widening Participation.
11.00am An overview of our health suite, which includes our new undergraduate courses (Midwifery and Radiography) and postgraduate courses (Speech and Language Therapy and Operating Department Practice).

CPD Session: This session will look at the views of young people about the issues affecting their mental health and wellbeing post pandemic. It will draw on the outcomes of a small research project with secondary school students in York to identify and analyse factors that young people suggest might: contribute to mental health concerns; and those that might mitigate and improve such concerns. The session will draw on these findings to consider appropriate local and national policy responses that might address young people’s mental health concerns and their impact.

This session will be presented by the researchers, Dr Margaret Wood and Dr Andrew Pennington from YSJ School of Education, Language and Psychology.

CPD Session: A session on students with caring responsibilities including how to identify and support them to enter higher education. 

This session will be presented by Emma Coward Gibbs and Anna Deacon - YSJ staff from our Student Success and Learning Services team.

3.00pm Student Panel - A chance to hear from and ask questions to our current York St John students.
