Staff Profile

Ebony Moreno

Education Outreach Coordinator

As the first in my family to attend university, I am passionate about minimising the barriers which prevent students from accessing higher education and this underlies the work I do here at York St John.

During my time at school on the coast, the link between a passion and aptitude for learning and progression to university was not made clear. It was only in Year 12 that I saw my academic efforts had unconsciously paved a pathway to higher education and I thus went on to graduate from the London School of Economics (LSE) with a BSc in International Relations.

I'm therefore very proud to lead on our coastal outreach and Year 10 Summer School Widening Participation projects, both of which aim to inspire and support students from underrepresented backgrounds to consciously pave their way to higher education. I also have specific responsibility for the initiation of a project to increase ethnic and cultural access to higher education and more specifically to York St John, through outreach work aimed at Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic students.
