Staff Profile

Emma Bassitt

Lecturer

Emma Bassitt

I am a Lecturer in Interior Design and an Interior Designer by practice, with over ten years of professional experience across the interiors, architecture, and construction industries prior to entering academia, working both nationally and internationally.

As an interdisciplinary designer, I bring specialist knowledge in architectural and construction contexts, including site-based working, project management, technical drawing, and the integration of interior design within broader built environment processes. My industry background is particularly strong within Hospitality and Leisure Design, having worked with clients including Hard Rock International, The Azzurri Group, Mitchells & Butlers, and Boeing.

I am deeply committed to widening access to, and understanding of, the creative industries and am particularly passionate about engaging young people in meaningful creative work. I actively advocate for the value of design education, aiming to strengthen recognition and funding for under-resourced creative disciplines within education systems.
