Articulation agreements
An articulation agreement is a formal partnership whereby York St John guarantees a place on a particular programme, or programmes, on successful completion (or having gained a particular level of award) at another institution. An articulation agreement may allow entry to any specified level of a programme.
An articulation agreement includes mapping that demonstrates the academic fit of the applicant's programme with the York St John programme they will enter.
Approval of an articulation agreement requires consideration of the partner by the Collaborative Partnerships Sub-Committee through the standard partner approval process and completion of the advanced standing mapping template:
This should be completed by the proposing School for consideration and approval by the Quality and Standards Committee. The Advanced Standing mapping must be approved by the School Quality Panel prior to submission to Quality and Standards Committee.
Approval of an articulation relationship leads to the signing of an articulation agreement.
Progression arrangements
A progression arrangement is similar to an articulation agreement except that it only recognises the award the student will be receiving and does not guarantee that student a place on a programme. Effectively these arrangements make a formal link between York St John and another institution, but students are not favoured over any other applicant.

Entry with advanced standing
The advanced standing mapping template can be used to recognise a qualification as being appropriate for entry to an award of York St John University.
The Advanced Standing mapping must be approved by the School Quality Panel prior to submission to Quality and Standards Committee. Approval by the Collaborative Partnerships Sub-Committee is not required as this form of arrangement does not lead to the signing of a formal agreement.
